Affidavits and Letters of Invitation

An affidavit is a written statement that gives the facts you will rely on in your court case. It must be sworn by a Notary Public. There are three types:

  • Letters of Invitation, which are used to obtain a visitor’s visa to Canada
  • Affidavits regarding the transfer of ownership of vehicles
  • Other kinds of affidavits

If you need a Letter of Invitation so that you can obtain a visitor’s visa for someone, please be prepared to provide the following information:

  • Full name
  • Date of birth
  • Address
  • Phone number
  • Citizenship status
  • Employer and employer’s address
  • Position
  • Name of your bank
  • Your passport, birth certificate and driver’s license

You will also have to provide information about the person who will be applying for the visitor’s visa:

  • Full name
  • Date and place of birth
  • Address and phone number
  • Relationship to you
  • Citizenship status
  • Arrival date and departure date

We really appreciated your patient, supportive approach. Dealing with lawyers can be intimidating for people not experienced in legal matters; you put us at ease immediately. We will always be grateful for your help in successfully getting us through what was a stressful, complicated time in our lives. We found that you and your office staff displayed professionalism and expertise during the entire process of selling our Calgary home and buying our Gibsons property.
